NEW AGE LEARNING : DIGITALIZATION OF EDUCATION

The education sector trends change over the past few years. From the old-school learning technique to smart classrooms, the education sector is growing.
This software has helped to make remarkable changes. For example, it offers multiple modules that help with management, learning, communication, payment, and reports.

Education is the ladder to success. With well-education, a person can become successful with the help of his or her degree and the help of their knowledge and skills. For a higher degree, you have to go to college for higher studies like a bachelor's or master's or even higher like a doctorate or so is the only option for getting a valuable degree and increasing the knowledge regarding the subject.
In this era, entrepreneurship education is available in online form. Students are learning entrepreneurship skills through online platforms which are easily available.

In India, Digital education is booming, nowadays, everyone has a smartphone, laptop, tab, etc. Even the kids. So the future of digital education is bright. It saves both money and time. We can learn anything online easily without spending much money. The greatest advantage of educators through digital education is they can teach anything from their place, with no need to shift to another city. Learners and educators both feel more comfortable with a particular format or at a certain time of day. You can learn and teach on your schedule is something that makes digital education so beneficial. Digital education is making learning more flexible and accessible, which is a great advantage for us.

If we look back 100 years from now we will see a great advancement in almost everything like transportation systems from steam locomotives to superfast trains and airplanes. Similarly, there are a lot of differences in the communication system from past to present. We have seen every aspect of life with the change of time but at the same time, we see almost no change or advancement in the education system in most parts of the world, as of now presently 99% of Asia’s education system is based on the same old age concepts with no advancements. We are ready to see and adopt any change in any aspect of life but when it comes to the education system we fail to develop or bring new methods to educational institutes. And the results are no growth in students’ intellectuality because students only get bored with lectures. But to advance this educational field, we are now seeing the rise and shine of digital learning.

So, what is digital learning …?

In simple and easy terms, we can define digital learning as any type of learning that is facilitated by technology or by instructional practices that make effective and best use of technology. Digital education is based on a combination of three things: technology, digital content, and instruction.Or we can say digital education is learning facilitated by technology that gives students some element of control over time, place, path, or pace.

Some of the pros of digital technology are:

• Easy access and ability to adapt to user’s preference.
• Communication type learning environment.
• There are no location or time constraints.
• Interactive environment and active audience participation.
• No outdated learning material.
• Limited socio-economic constraints.
• Efficiency
• Global reach

Digital learning is the summation of three terms i.e. Technology, Digital Content, and Instruction.

1. Technology: Technology is just a tool, not the instruction and this technology is the main source to deliver content and facilitates how the content should be received by the students. The delivery of content can be done by Internet access and hardware (like laptops, mobiles, and desktops).

2. Digital Content: The high-quality academic material which is delivered with the help of technology, is what students learn.

3. Instruction: Technology may change the role of the teacher but it can never eliminate the need for the teacher. Educators or teachers are essential to digital learning, with digital learning teachers will be able to provide personalised guidance and assistance to ensure students learn and stay on track.

Nowadays education is shifting rapidly toward digitalization. Schools, colleges, and universities adopted digital education.Because digital education is affordable and easily available you have to not migrate from one city to city for education.It is not replacing paper books and e-books. It covers much more like remote classrooms, lessons delivery & Tests Assessments over the net, and so on. Nowadays digital education has reached remote areas. You can easily find lectures of all reputed teachers on online platforms.

How is digital education changing India's education system?

The current Covid-19 Pandemic has opened various avenues for many sectors, specifically the education sector. We see a lot of reforms coming in our teaching system, School system, and overall education sector.This could not be possible before a post-digital world where the internet was for the rich and hardly normal people used it. Revolution in name of DIGITAL INDIA Transformation it, where many are under its ambit.

The Indian education system is always termed to be outdated and outperforming, whether primary level or higher level. The Indian education system believes in rote learning. Our system gives more value to grades than knowledge. More importance on theory than practical. More importance on attendance than actual presences.

Digital platforms can take linen, improving our education system. Easy accent and more practical understanding would usher students in the reproduction. No more need for tons of books when you can carry a smartphone, phone, or laptop around the world. There would be more rack, more students would be willing to learn and explore.

Summing Up

Replacing the traditional educational system with digital would be not a panacea but supplementing it would help. Many still believe that switching from real lectures to live Lectures will not end the challenges in one go but gradually. So slowly paving the way for digest systems would have long-term impacts.

The digital content includes interactive and adaptive software, classic literature, videos, games, etc. The simple pdf or text or PowerPoint presentation is not the digital content.
